Mother Jones Magazine - “Militias” - Lead-Illo & Spot-Illo - October 2021

For the American “Mother Jones Mag” I was allowed to contribute a few illustrations on the thrilling topic of "militias"! The story is about armed militias like the “Bedford Militia” and how armed militias in the state of Virginia have been given the power to execute and uphold the law as they see fit. The problem with this? That gives them the freedom to harass, intimidate or even use deadly force on their fellow Virginians.

In the specific case, there was a clash with protesters from the “Black Lives Matter”-movement where it eventually escalated. I showed this situation for the Main Lead-Illo. I also produced a small Spot-Illo and a Illo for the internet article.

Für das amerikanische "Mother Jones Mag" durfte ich ein paar Illustrationen zum spannenden Thema "Milizen" beisteuern! Es geht um bewaffnete Milizen wie die "Bedford Militia" und wie sie vom Staat Virginia die Befugnis erhält, das Gesetz auszuführen und aufrechtzuerhalten, wie sie es für richtig halten . Das Problem dabei? Das gibt ihnen die Freiheit, ihre Mitbürger in Virginia zu belästigen, einzuschüchtern oder sogar tödliche Gewalt anzuwenden.

Im konkreten Fall kam es zu einem Zusammenstoß mit Demonstranten der "Black Lives Matter"-Bewegung, der schließlich eskalierte. Ich habe diese Situation für den “Aufmacher” gezeigt. Außerdem habe ich ein kleines Spot-Illo und ein Illo für den Internetartikel produziert.
