In partnership with ZDF and various international media, SPIEGEL has gradually published a series of reports, so-called "CypRUS Confidential", first online and later also in the magazine, which I was allowed to illustrate with various collages. DER SPIEGEL - “Das goldene Ventil” - Lead Illo - September 2023

I was allowed to create a lead-collage for the article “The Golden Valve”. It's about the involvement of the Moscow sewage-company Mosvodokanal, whose owner, the Russian oligarch Alexander Ponomarenko, has often given his partner contracts. Ultimately, the money probably also flowed into luxury apartments in Berlin and into recruiting Russian soldiers. I would like to thank AD very much for their cooperation!

Für den Artikel "Das goldene Ventil" durfte ich eine Aufmacher-Collage erstellen. Es geht um die Verstrickungen des Moskauer Abwasserunternehmens Mosvodokanal, dessen Inhaber, der russische Oligarch Alexander Ponomarenko, wohl seiner Lebenspartnerin desöfteren Aufträge zugeschanzt hat. Das Geld ist schließlich wohl auch in Berliner Luxuswohnungen und in die Rekrutierung russischer Soldaten geflossen. Ich danke der AD vielmals für die Zusammenarbeit!

I drew graffiti and tags for a text about a father suing his child's school because he thinks there's too much Gender-Speech there. Socialized in Hip Hop, this was for me since a very long time again an excursion into the graffiti cosmos - I had a lot of fun! The challenge was that the words and gender forms should be clearly legible - flashy and colorful and still look like classic graffiti - I hope I succeeded!

Hier habe ich Graffitis und Tags zu einem Text gezeichnet, der davon handelt, dass ein Vater die Schule seines Kindes verklagt hat, weil ihm dort zuviel gegendert wird. Im Hip Hop sozialisiert, war das fpür mich seit sehr langer Zeit mal wieder ein Ausflug in den Graffiti-Kosmos - hat mir sehr viel Spaß gemacht! Die Herausforderung bestand darin, dass die Worte und die Gender-Formen deutlich lesbar sein sollten - knallig und bunt und dennoch nach klassischen Graffitis aussehen - ich hoffe, das ist mir gelungen!

The text "Im braunen Netz" is about young people who have made it their business to hunt and track down neo-Nazis and right-wing extremists in their free time - for example, there is someone who got on the trail of the right-wing terrorist-group "Atomwaffen Division" and its German offshoots or the Anonymous-Collective, who hunted down the temporary fugitive right-wing extremist-activist Attila Hildmann. Exciting topic, it is about the motivations - also, what the constant occupation with such topics and persons affects the "self".

In dem Text "Im braunen Netz" geht es junge Menschen, die es sich weltweit zur Aufgabe gemacht haben, in ihrer Freizeit Neo Nazi´s und Rechtesextreme zu jagen & aufzuspüren - so gibt es z.B. jemanden, der der rechtsterroristischen "Atomwaffendivision" und dessen deutschen Ablegern auf die Schliche gekommen ist oder der dem Anonymous-Kollektiv, die dem zeitweise-flüchtigen rechtsextremen Aktivisten Attila Hildmann gejagt haben. Spannendes Thema, es geht um die Beweggründe - auch, was die ständige Beschäftigung mit solchen Themen und Personen mit dem eigenen Selbst "machen".

DER SPIEGEL - “THE 4TH FORCE” - "DIE 4.GEWALT" - Lead Illo and one single-page, not used - October 2022

About a month ago I was allowed to work again for the german SPIEGEL - this time it was about two illustrations that should support a commentary by philosopher Richard David Precht and author Harald Welzer.

In the context of their latest book publication, the two have put forward a thesis that - in retrospect - has caused a lot of discussion and controversy in Germany and has been one of the central discussions of recent times: In their opinion, the media in Germany are too "connected" & represent too one-sided the position "pro arms-supply to Ukraine" in Russia's war of aggression. While working on the drawings, unfortunately, at least "unfortunately for me", the publication was cancelled first in parts and finally completely - so that I can show you here only the result of about half a day's work on the project.

Vor etwa einem Monat durfte ich wieder für den SPIEGEL arbeiten - dieses Mal ging es um zwei Illustrationen die einen Kommentar von Philosoph Richard David Precht und Autor Harald Welzer supporten sollten.

Die beiden haben im Rahmen ihrer neusten Buchveröffentlichung eine These vertreten, die - im Nachhinein gesehen - für äußerst viel Diskussionen und Kontroversen gesorgt hat und eine der zentralen Diskussionen der letzten Zeit war: Ihrer Meinung nach seien die Medien in Deutschland zu "gleichgeschaltet" & vertreten zu einseitig die Position "Pro Waffenlieferung an die Ukraine" im Angriffskrieg Russlands. Während der Arbeit an die Zeichnungen wurde leider, zumindest "leider für mich", die Veröffentlichung zunächst in Teilen und schließlich ganz gestrichen - sodass ich Euch hier nur das Ergebniss von etwa einem halben Tag Arbeit an dem Projekt zeigen kann.

It's about the fact that, according to current surveys, the number of people in the population (of Germany) is growing who have the feeling that their mouths are being shut ("from above") and that they can no longer freely express their political opinions - that a silent cultural revolution is taking place that it's better not to get in the way of. A similar development has been taking place in the USA for quite some time.

Author René Pfister looks into this and writes a plea for more openness. Since these are all quite complex topics, we decided to collage them like the BLM protests, Trump and his lies via Twitter, the storm of the Capitol, German University / students, queer and trans identity.

Es geht darum, dass laut aktuellen Umfragen die Zahl derer in der Bevölkerung wächst, die das Gefühl haben, ihnen werde der Mund ("von oben") verboten und sie können Ihre politische Meinung nicht mehr frei äußern - dass sich eine stille kulturelle Revolution vollziehe, der man sich besser nicht in den Weg stellt. Eine ähnliche Entwicklung gibt es schon seit längeren auch in den USA.

Autor René Pfister geht dem nach und schreibt ein Plädoyer für mehr Offenheit. Da das alles recht komplexe Themen sind, haben wir uns entschieden, die Themenkomplexe wie die BLM Proteste, Trump und seine Lügen via Twitter, der Sturm des Capitols, Deutsche Universität / Studenten, Queer- und Transidentität zu kollagieren.
